The North East has a way of underselling its own worth. We get on with it. We do the work. We let the results speak for themselves and leave the shouting to somebody else.
It’s one of the things I love about this place. It’s also why so many ridiculously talented women here aren’t getting the recognition they’ve earned.
Because in a world where your reputation is being built online as well as in the room, “my work speaks for itself” isn’t enough anymore. Your work and expertise needs to be amplified. That’s where I come in.
I’m Laura Pearman, a Strategic Personal Branding Consultant working with high-achieving women across the North East. My clients already have the expertise. They’ve built careers, launched businesses, honed reputations and continue to dedicate themselves to further improving their knowledge. What they haven’t always built is a personal brand that makes all of that impossible to miss by the right people.
You bring the expertise and industry excellence. I bring the personal branding trade secrets that help you show up, stand out and get recognised for who you really are. Quirks and all.

The North East is full of expertise. It shouldn't be a best-kept secret.
This region isn't short of serious expertise. Women are leading teams, building businesses and developing careers across professional services, finance, technology, engineering, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, energy and other specialist sectors.
Those aren't industries where you can fake expertise. You earn it over years.
And that's exactly why it frustrates me when brilliant women who've done all of that work still feel uncomfortable being visible.
You don't have to become louder than everybody else. You do have to make it easier for the right people to understand what you know, what you stand for and why you're the person they should remember.
You don't have to go to London to build a serious personal brand
There's a quiet belief up here that if you want to build a big profile, become known in your industry or really put yourself out there, you need to look south. I don't buy it.
From Newcastle and Gateshead to Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland and the Tees Valley, the North East has businesses and specialist industries doing work with national and international reach.
What's often missing isn't talent, experience or ambition. It's visibility and influence.
It's having a personal brand that looks and sounds like the brilliant woman people meet in real life, rather than a watered-down professional version of her.
You can be credible and colourful. Expert and interesting. Professional and a human being with a personality. In fact, that's rather the point.

This is for the women who are done playing small
Most of my clients are high-achieving women working in non-creative fields: consultants, founders, directors, specialists and professionals who've spent years becoming very, very good at what they do.
Maybe you've watched somebody with half your experience get the opportunity you wanted. Maybe people who meet you understand immediately what makes you brilliant, but your LinkedIn profile or website doesn't come close. Or perhaps you've become so used to being the safe, professional version of yourself that your personality has almost disappeared from your brand.
My job is to guide you in the right direction to highlight the right parts of yourself in a strategic way and then ensure everyone else can see it, and understand it.
Not sure what needs fixing? Start with the Personal Branding Diagnostic
If you know your personal brand isn't doing you justice but you're not sure whether the problem is your positioning, messaging, visibility, photography or a mixture of all four, my £500 Personal Branding Diagnostic is the place to start.
I'll look at how you're currently showing up, identify what's working, spot where you're underselling yourself and show you what I would prioritise next.
The Diagnostic gives you clarity before you invest time or money in the wrong things.
When you're ready to go deeper
Once we know what needs to change first, we can decide what comes next. That might be a Brand Strategy Day to get properly stuck into your positioning and messaging. We might have a clear project result to achieve as a result of a diagnostic. Maybe we need to get to work on a content creation project or plan personal branding photography? I work in a fully bespoke way, applying my Personal Branding Framework as much or as little as you need it to achieve the success you’re looking to achieve.
No fakery. No basic template personal branding. Definitely no turning you into a polished social media robot.

Wherever you are, the goal is the same: to make your reputation match your expertise and make you impossible to ignore.
Personal branding in the North East: common questions (FAQs)
Which areas of the North East do you work in?
I work with clients across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Northumberland, the Tees Valley and the wider North East. We can work together in person or online depending on what makes sense.
Do I need to travel to to you?
Not necessarily. Being based in the North East makes in-person work across Tyneside easy, but I work with women throughout the region and further afield.
I work in a very professional industry. Is personal branding really relevant to me?
Yes. And even more so now. We are facing a reputational time of crisis with the huge waves of change AI is making. Arguably, Personal branding has never been more important, especially across professional services and expert-led sectors. Personal branding isn't about becoming an influencer. It's about making your expertise, point of view and personality easier for the right people to recognise and remember. The key output from this is long-term trust and impact.
What if I'm terrible in front of a camera?
You're in very good company. You don't need to arrive knowing how to “do personal branding” or “be a content creator”. It might be that the way we work to build your influence is more behind the scenes, through thought leadership. Should we need to put you on camera, trust that I have worked with hundreds of clients on this. Back in the day, my business was purely centered on photography. I've got your back, and I know how to get the best out of any creative supplier.
Ready to stop being one of the North East's best-kept secrets?
You've already done the difficult bit. You've built the expertise. Now let's make sure people know about it.
The results from this are still paying off in my business now.

Laura offering this in-a-day branding service in a way that respects my time felt like a perfect fit. The results from this are still paying off in my business now.
