Meet Laura Pearman – Personal Brand Consultant

“Hi, I’m Laura Pearman, and I help expert women build a personal brand that’s impossible to overlook.”

With degrees in marketing and photography and 15 years of experience, I bring insight you can trust to your personal brand. Since 2012, I’ve worked with more than 450 clients across a wide range of industries and well beyond the North East.

The woman who never quite fit in

I spent years forcing myself to fit in, until I accepted that I’m a creative entrepreneur, wired to do things a little differently. Now I use that same instinct to help other women do the same: to stop shrinking to fit, and start being seen for who they actually are.

As a feminist, I’ve watched leadership inequality play out up close, and I put my creativity and skills to work changing it. More women in leadership makes the whole thing more balanced, more civilised and more sustainable. Your personal brand is part of that shift.

Built on a non-linear, imperfect journey

My career hasn’t run in a straight line, and I’d argue that’s a strength. I know first-hand that knocks, wrong turns and fresh starts are normal. It’s exactly those moments that make a personal brand story memorable and relatable, rather than glossy and forgettable. The era of projecting flawless perfection is over. People trust a real person far more than a polished front.

I respect what makes you different

When you trust me with your personal brand, I start by understanding you: your background, your values, and where you want to go. From there we work on your business and your goals, short and long term, so your personal brand actively moves you towards the success you’re after. If that’s a yacht and a TED talk, brilliant. If it’s a quiet smallholding where you run your empire on your own terms, I respect that just as much.

How my work evolved

My work as a personal branding consultant didn’t arrive fully formed. It grew over time, shaped by communication, photography, brand strategy, and advisory work with leaders and established professionals. The graphic here shows how those chapters feed the way I work today.

Perspective & Values

My work is shaped as much by how I live as by how I work.

I’m drawn to craftsmanship, longevity, and things that improve with age, whether that’s restoring old furniture, tending a garden, or building a business deliberately rather than loudly. I value care, curiosity, and making space to think in a culture that usually rewards speed over substance. That outlook runs straight through how I work with clients.

A grounded approach to your personal brand

I work mainly with women who already have expertise, responsibility and leadership behind them, and who are ready to be more deliberate about how that experience is seen and understood.

At this level, a personal brand isn’t about visibility for its own sake or becoming an online personality. It’s about lining up your lived experience, your professional credibility, and your future ambition, so your progress feels coherent rather than performative.

The result isn’t a louder brand. It’s a more effective one.

In 2021 I Made This Video

If you’re curious about the experiences that shaped my perspective, I shared a longer origin story here. It isn’t required viewing, but it gives context for how I came to work the way I do.

A non-linear career – by design

My career hasn’t followed a single, linear path, and that’s deliberate.

Before building my consultancy, I experienced a wide range of working environments, leadership styles, and organisational cultures. Over time, this gave me an unusually clear view of how authority, belonging, and credibility actually function inside businesses.

Rather than settling into roles that didn’t fit, I paid attention to why they didn’t, and what that revealed about people, systems, and expectations.

That pattern recognition is now central to my work as a personal brand consultant. It allows me to quickly understand how clients are being perceived, where friction exists, and what needs aligning for their next stage of leadership.

Your Personal Brand: Visibility with intention

Many of the women I work with are not lacking confidence, skill, or ambition.

They are already doing the work  (often at a high level), but their contribution isn’t always recognised in proportion to its impact.

Over time, I’ve seen how visibility, perception, and authority interact – particularly for women operating inside systems that still reward certainty over competence, and volume over substance.

My work isn’t about pushing clients to be louder or bolder for the sake of it. It’s about helping them speak, position, and show up strategically. So, their expertise is understood, trusted, and acted on.

That’s where meaningful change actually happens.

Professional background & working style

My work as a personal brand consultant is built on both formal training and long practical experience. I hold a BA (Hons) in Marketing and Public Relations alongside a degree in Commercial Photographic Practice, which lets me move fluently across strategy, communication and visual identity without treating them as separate jobs.

Beyond the qualifications, one of my core strengths is making complex ideas clear and meeting people where they are. I’m comfortable with clients at very different stages of confidence and visibility, translating abstract brand ideas into practical, usable strategy. That approach has been shaped by years of client work, mentoring and structured training, including Philip Van Dusen’s Delivering Brand Strategy intensive, plus ongoing development in content systems and the considered use of AI in creative and advisory work.

Since founding my business in 2012, I’ve worked with more than 450 clients across a wide range of industries internationally.

Early Perspective

Growing up, I absorbed the familiar message that good behaviour, hard work, and playing by the rules would naturally lead to opportunity.

Travel, early creative work, and time inside competitive industries gradually challenged that assumption, revealing how power, visibility, and opportunity don’t always align as neatly as we’re taught to expect.

Sharing Perspectives

Over the years, I’ve shared my personal brand expertise and thinking through workshops, talks, panels, and facilitated discussions with business owners and leadership teams.

I enjoy creating spaces where complex ideas become practical – and where people leave with clarity, not overwhelm.

Visual Practice

Photography remains a foundational part of how I understand branding, presence, and perception.

Working behind the camera – and alongside creative teams – sharpened my ability to see nuance, alignment, and what communicates authority before a word is spoken.

Strategic Work

Today, my work centres on consulting with leaders and professionals who want their personal brand to support real outcomes: career progression, credibility, and long-term influence.

I particularly enjoy working in collaborative settings, where strategy becomes shared understanding rather than abstract theory.

Outside of work, I stay creatively grounded through movement, music, and making things. Whether that’s tap, learning new instruments, cooking for people I love, restoring old objects, or tending a garden.

These practices aren’t separate from my work. They’re how I stay attentive, patient, and creatively alert.
